Q. How do I know what version of Microsoft Office I have ?.

A. Open Microsoft Word or other program select Help and About. OR, from the menu select File and Help.

Q. Unicode Error messages with Microsoft Office

This is a common error due to the many different Microsoft default directories for Microsoft Office that varies on different versions of Windows and upgrades, academic versions etc.

The mi_nz.dic file needs to be moved from the Proof folder to the UProof folder under your user/AppData/Microsoft folder.

  1. Select the mi_nz.dic file from Spelling area (refer to Installation Instructions, or reinstall Te Ngutu Kura and select the browse button
  2. Select the desktop or other suitable folder.
  3. Select the mi-nz.dic file and cut it
  4. Select Search Folders from the Start menu
  5. Open UProof
  6. Paste
  7. Restart Microsoft Office application

Q. Our Iwi replace a letter from standard Māori.

A. Please use the customisation link. Typically an hour long  job.

Q. Microsoft Office stops spelling in any language

This is not a Te Ngutu Kura issue, but more than likely an issue with the Microsoft Māori keyboard settings.

You will need to change the name of the mri_NZ file to tnk.dic . If you are unsure how to do this, refer to the installation instructions of adding the spell checker file via Microsoft Office.
